GGA attended the Georgia Science Teachers Association Conference in Stone Mountain on February 2nd-3rd. GGA had various new projects to present that are unlike any other, from Virtual Reality, Georgia’s Giant Traveling Map, and National Geographic Educator Certification. Many educators were intrigued by how they could incorporate the Giant Map in their classroom with simple tools. Many were also lining up to try the Samsung Gear Virtual reality kit and the Google Cardboard kit that transported them to an erupting mountain or teleported them through the edges of space letting them view the Milky Way Galaxy!
Dr. Visaggi, GGA’s Co-Coordinator, had the opportunity to present her National Geographic Educators workshop to over 40 educators! They completed the first of three workshops required to be Nat-Geo Certified educator. In the second part of the workshop educators were led by Dr. Visaggi to explore the different activities teachers can use with the Giant Traveling Map. It was a learning experience for educators that they will pass on to their students!
