Savannah GIS Day Success and The Georgia Geographic Alliance

GIS Day in Savannah was a huge success!!

Dr Amy Potter (Southeastern Georgia Regional Coordinator for the Georgia Geographic Alliance) and Dr. Tim Hawthorne (State Coordinator of GGA) were on hand to engage over 400 youth from the Savannah area as part of GIS Day Savannah.  The GGA booth included free giveaways, vibrant discussions about GIS and mobile mapping, and an interactive learning activity where youth taught each other how to map acts of kindness using iPads as part of The Georgia Geographic Alliance’s “People Loving People Mapping Project.” We’re transforming geography and place-based learning across Georgia.  Won’t you join us?

Hear from Dr. Potter in this GGA video as she challenges teachers in the SE Region to join the Alliance and to share more about what’s going on in the region… https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152807859308119&set=vb.58566798118&type=2&theater&notif_t=video_processed

Hear from youth that were at the event (they talk about how easy mobile mapping is) on this GGA video:
